Today, analysis agency Canalys released a report that in the first quarter of 2022, European smartphone shipments reached 41.7 million units, a year-on- year decrease of 10%.
The report pointed out that as the supply capacity of low-end and mid-range models began to recover, Samsung ranked first with a market share of 35% in the first quarter of 2022 . Apple is in second place thanks to strong demand for the iPhone 13 .
In addition, Xiaomi is in third place with its new Redmi Note 11 series , while realme and OPPO round out the top five with 5% and 4% market share respectively.
Canalys said that the main reason for the decline in shipments in the European market was the serious impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war. Shipments in Russia and Ukraine fell by 31% and 51%, respectively, compared to the first quarter of 2021 . Shipments in the rest of Europe were only down 3.5% year over year, suggesting that market demand remains unchanged.
