Russia will levy scrap recycling fees for electronic products for the development of the domestic microelectronics industry

According to the Russian "Kommersant" report, the development plan of the country's microelectronics industry is nearly completed. One-third of the budget is difficult to implement and needs additional fiscal revenue support.

The paper said a possible source of funding would be additional end-of-life recycling charges for consumer electronics and computer equipment.

Referring to similar policies previously imposed on imported cars in the country, recycling fees will be collected at the point of product importation and sale, a move that is expected to result in an increased burden on consumers.
