AMD will launch 5 AM5 motherboards

AMD announced the new AM5 platform during the Taipei Computer Show, and announced the X670E, X670 and B650 motherboards.

The whistleblower believes that the AMD X670E flagship motherboard will be priced from $300 (about 2,001 yuan) to $500 (about 3,335 yuan), and the lower-positioned X670 motherboard will be priced at $250 (about 1,667.5 yuan) to $350 (about 2334.5 yuan), the mainstream B650 motherboard is priced at $130 (about 867.1 yuan) to $230 (about 1534.1 yuan).

In addition, AMD will also launch a high-end B650E motherboard that fully supports PCIe 5.0 SSDs and graphics cards . Its price is expected to be similar to the X670 motherboard, ranging from $250 (about 1667.5 yuan) to $350 (about 2334.5 yuan).

Finally, the entry-level A620 motherboard is expected to launch next year for under $100.

The the new socket of the new AMD Socket AM5 platform uses a 1718-pin LGA design, supports processors up to 170W TDP , dual-channel DDR5 memory, and the new SVI3 power infrastructure. AMD Socket AM5 also features PCIe 5.0 lanes up to 24.

AM5 series motherboards are divided into three grades:

  • X670 Extreme: PCIe 5.0 support for two graphics card slots and one storage slot for powerful connectivity and higher overclocking performance
  • X670: Provides PCIe5.0 support for one memory slot and one graphics card slot (the graphics slot supporting PCIe5.0 is optional), designed for enthusiast overclocking
  • B650: It has a memory slot supporting PCIe 5.0, designed for high-performance users,

Partners including ASRock, Asus, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI are expected to offer motherboard offerings covering all three chipsets, while numerous partners including Crucial, Micron and Phison will offer PCIe 5.0 storage solutions.
