At present, the products purchased from foreign companies are not only expensive, but also can only be used for shallow water exploration equipment within 300 meters of water depth. 

Since 2019, COSL, a subsidiary of CNOOC, has started technical research on autonomous subsea nodes, and has completed the sea test of the subsea node engineering prototype. The final assembly test line currently under construction in Tianjin is the first marine seismic exploration node equipment assembly test line with completely independent intellectual property rights in China , integrating equipment assembly and performance testing functions.
