According to Micron's official website, due to severe weather, Micron's DRAM manufacturing plant in Hiroshima, Japan suffered a sudden power outage on July 8, 2022.
Micron noted that operations have returned to lower levels after the power outage shut down some of its production facilities and will continue to ramp up over the next week.
Micron is evaluating wafers being processed at the time of the outage to determine whether they meet the company's stringent quality standards. The company expects yield losses and associated cost impacts from productivity and wafer scrap in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2022 and the first quarter of fiscal 2023.
Separately, Micron said the company is currently assessing the impact on near-term supply and is leveraging existing inventory and remaining DRAM fabs to meet critical customer needs.
