Apple macOS 13 Developer Preview Beta 5 Released

Apple today pushed the macOS 13 Developer Preview Beta 5 update (build number: 22A5321d) to Mac computer users. This update is 12 days after the last release. macOS 13 Developer Preview Beta 5 deprecates FTP connections, and ATSUI text rendering APIs.

Deprecated:

  • Core Graphics: To improve security, CGImageCreate enforces parameter correctness on macOS 13 Ventura, iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16. Passing an incorrect CGImageByteOrderInfo is no longer supported, which will cause the image to fail to load.
  • Network: FTP is deprecated for URLSession and related APIs. Please use a modern secure network protocol, such as HTTPS.
  • StoreKit: Deprecated SKDownload API and removed option to upload non-consumable in-app purchase assets for Apple escrow. Additionally, as of April 2022, managing these assets in App Store Connect will no longer be supported.
  • Text and Fonts: ATS (AppleType Services) and ATSUI APIs are completely deprecated. When the deployment target is set to 13, code using these APIs will fail to compile and link. Code targeting earlier versions of macOS will continue to compile, link, and run. macOS 13 is the last version to run code that depends on ATS or ATSUI. All runtime functionality will be removed in the next major release of macOS.
