Foxconn, Toyota's Sichuan plant successfully resumed work

Apple suppliers Foxconn and Toyota have resumed work after an order to stop operations expired on Thursday (August 25) as the record-breaking heatwave in Sichuan province eased.

Authorities appear to be prioritizing power supply to Foxconn, also known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, which assembles Apple's Apple Watch, iPad and MacBook products , given the economic impact on the Sichuan region, a person close to the factory confirmed.

Previously, due to extreme high temperature weather and other reasons, the relevant departments had issued a notice to limit the power limit period to August 15th to 20th. However, due to the fact that the high temperature weather has not improved significantly, the tension between power supply and demand has further intensified. On August 20, the Sichuan Economic and Information Office and the State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company issued a notice to extend the power curtailment period to the 25th, making the total power curtailment duration. extended to 11 days.
