Huawei agent in Taiwan: The notebook computer industry is still clearing inventory

Huawei held a smart office and MateBook new product launch conference in Taiwan, China. Yong Hai, general manager of Huawei Taiwan's general agent Xunwei Technology, said that the notebook industry is still clearing inventory in the third quarter, and the fourth quarter is expected to slowly improve. Yong Hai pointed out that in the first half of this year, Huawei's notebook sales in Taiwan increased by 133% year on year, and the sales unit price of mid-to-high-end models increased by 62% year-on-year. Last year, notebook computers accounted for more than half of Huawei's Taiwan performance, and tablet computer sales accounted for about 20%, of other products such as wearable devices.

In response to the inventory pressure problem faced by the laptop market, Yong Hai responded that the COVID-19 epidemic has increased a lot of consumer demand. People need to buy laptops in order to study at home and work remotely; but after a large number of purchases, the demand will definitely slow down, and now the industry is in Clearing the inventory, it should slowly improve by season 4. Yong Hai also said that Huawei still has higher-end products that have not been introduced to Taiwan, and China. In the future, it will continue to improve its brand value positioning and launch higher-end products. It will not fight price wars and push low-end products in pursuit of market share.

Yonghai believes that the replacement cycle of laptops is about 2 to 3 years, which means that the entire industry will face great pressure at least one or two years in the future. Huawei can use this time to strengthen its mid-to-high-end brand positioning and enhance the competitiveness of its business products. When consumers want to change their phones, they will naturally consider Huawei products and are optimistic about the future growth of Huawei laptops.

In response to inflation, Yong Hai pointed out that in the future, Huawei laptops will gradually increase product prices and positioning. At present, the prices have reflected the rising cost of raw materials, and it is impossible to do business at a loss.
