Sony has announced that it will increase the price of its PlayStation 5 game console globally, and its China line will increase the price by 400 yuan - except for the United States. In Europe, the price of the game console has risen sharply by 50 euros (about 341.5 yuan). Price changes apply to digital and Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive editions. The move has led many buyers to worry that the price of the Xbox console will rise soon, but those folks can breathe a sigh of relief now.
As reported by Windows Central, a statement from Microsoft has confirmed that there are currently no plans to increase the price of the Xbox, and that its MSRP will remain the same regardless of monetary value:
"We're constantly evaluating the business to provide our fans with a great selection of games. The MSRP for the Xbox Series S remains at $299 (£250, €300) and the Xbox Series X is $499 (£450, €500)."
It should be noted that Microsoft said that it has no plans to increase prices at present, but this does not mean that there will be no price increases in the future . This is likely to be a short-term guarantee.
Sony said that the difficult decision was made in response to "the current global economic environment and its impact on SIE's business". The company cited high global inflation and unfavorable currency trends as reasons behind the move, but stressed that it will continue to address supply chain issues so that more gamers have access to its latest consoles.
