AMD Announces FSR 2.1 Technology

AMD announced a new iteration of time-domain sampling amplification technology - FidelityFX Super Resolution (Super Resolution Sharp Painting, referred to as FSR) 2.1. According to reports, FSR 2.1 includes an update to the algorithm that improves in-game image quality while reducing artifacts such as ghosting and splash screen.

Game developers can now download FSR 2.1 for free on GPUOpen.com. The latest version of "Farm Simulator 22" has added support for FSR 2.1, and "Hitman 3" will also be added in the upcoming update. 2.1 Support . Additionally, the AMD FSR 2 plugin for Unreal Engine 4.26/4.27 and Unreal Engine 5 has been updated to support FSR 2.1 and some other improvements.

According to AMD, FidelityFX Super Resolution is AMD's cutting-edge time-domain sampling upscaling technology designed to increase game-capable game frame rates while delivering exceptional image quality. Like FSR 1 and FSR 2, FSR 2.1 is fully open source and can be widely used on hardware including other brands' products.

In addition, AMD announced 11 games that have added or are expected to add support for FSR 2 , bringing the total number of supported games to 45 in just four months after the technology's launch. These new games include Deep Rock Galaxy, Destruction of All Humanity 2: Reprobed, Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Defiance, among others.
