Apple today released the official version of tvOS 16, the version number is (20J373). In addition, the official version of HomePod software v16 was released, and the version number is also (20J373). This is Apple's new software designed specifically for the HomePod and HomePod mini.
According to Apple's release notes, HomePod software version 16 includes general performance and stability improvements.
HomePod software is automatically installed on HomePod unless the feature is disabled, but a new system can also be installed manually by following the HomePod update method below.
- Open the Home app
- Tap the main Home icon in the upper left corner of the display
- If only one family is set up, this will go directly to the setup, so skip directly to step 5. If you have multiple households, click "Family Settings" on the sheet that pops up
- Select the desired family
- Scroll down to "Software Update"
- Pull down from the top of your iPhone or iPad screen to check for updates
- After selecting "Software Update", the user will be able to see the current version of the HomePod software installed and can turn off automatic updates if desired.
If an update is available, users can update the HomePod simply by clicking the "Install" button. If you have multiple HomePods in your home, each HomePod will be updated simultaneously with this software update feature.
