The latest iPadOS 16 Beta 4 beta released by Apple earlier this week will expand the display zoom option to the 2018 (A12X chip) and 2020 (A12Z chip) iPad Pro 11-inch models, to provide more screen space. The feature was previously limited to iPad models with the M1 chip.

The feature can be enabled in the Settings app by tapping Display & Brightness → Display Zoom → More Room. Apple says this mode gives users more screen real estate to use by scaling the display’s resolution, which is useful for features like split-screen displays and front-of-stage scheduling. IT House learned that Apple announced earlier this week that pre-stage scheduling will be extended to 2018 and 2020 iPad Pro models, although external displays are not supported.
For the iPad Pro 12.9-inch, more space options are still limited to models with the M1 chip, according to developer Steve Troughton-Smith. Apple iPadOS 16 is still in beta testing and will release a major version of iPadOS 16.1 in October.
