Apple has announced that it will hold a "Far Out" special event at 1:00 am Beijing time on September 8. This time, the online conference is still used, and it is expected to bring new products such as the iPhone 14 / Pro series, Apple Watch Series 8, and the official version of iOS 16. A new image of the iPhone 14 Pro case mounted on the iPhone 13 Pro gives us a look at the expected design changes to Apple's upcoming high-end iPhone, particularly changes to the camera lens, flash, and lidar scanner.
Case images shared by account "yeux1122" on the Korean blog Naver show a significantly larger camera lens on the back of the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro. Compared to the iPhone 13 Pro, each camera (wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle, and telephoto lenses) will be larger in size. Flash and lidar scanners also change their positions.
Past iPhone 14 Pro cases and mockups show that Apple plans to add a more prominent camera bump to this year's iPhone Pro models. The larger camera lens and more prominent camera array on the back are a result of the expected new camera features. Apple's iPhone 14 Pro lineup is expected to feature a 48MP wide-angle camera, along with improvements to low-light photography and possibly 8K video recording.
Another image shows that the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro will have slightly raised volume buttons and volume mute buttons. Overall, the iPhone schematics also show a heavier and thicker design due to the larger battery and enhanced camera hardware.
It is reported that Apple will announce the new iPhone 14 series at the "Super Preview" event on September 8. The series will include the 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus (or iPhone 14 Max), 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. The new lineup will mark the end of the road to the 5.4-inch "mini" form factor, which had previously only been released with two generations of the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini.
Apple is expected to release the Apple Watch Series 8, the faster Apple Watch SE 2, and the new rugged Apple Watch Pro. According to Gurman, the AirPods Pro 2 are also expected to be released during the event.
