Apple launches iOS 16.1 Beta2 public beta / watchOS 9.0.1/ iOS 16.0.2

Apple today released the upcoming iOS 16.1 Beta2 public beta (20B5050f) to public testers, a week after the first iOS 16.1 public beta was released. In addition, Apple has launched the latest public beta of iPadOS 16.1 and the new public beta of watchOS 9.1.

Apple says iOS 16.1 will introduce the Live Activity API, an interactive notification feature that will give you a better understanding of what's going on right now. Live events will work with features like the lock screen and dynamic islands in the iPhone 14 series, but there's no developer adaptation yet, so you won't see them even if you have the beta installed.

The update includes Clean Energy Charging in the U.S., which enables iPhones to selectively charge when low-carbon-emission electricity is available and lays the groundwork for Matter, a smart home standard that Apple will support.

In addition, Apple's second developer beta of iOS 16.1 tweaks the design of the battery status bar icon and adds a charging indicator. It also changed the font of the battery display, updated the lock screen charging indicator, and fixed a copy-and-paste bug.

In iOS 16.1 Beta2, the battery health option in the battery settings has been changed to battery health and charging, and the switch for independent 5G is gone. iOS 16.1 Beta 2 also fixes the iPhone 14 series GPS glitches that appeared in Beta 1, and now stable navigation is possible.

Other new features include a delectable wallet app, changes to the lock screen customization interface, and more.

Apple today pushed the watchOS 9.0.1 update (build number: 20R8380) to Apple Watch users. This update is 10 days after the last release.

It should be noted that due to the cache configuration of Apple's regional node servers, there may be a slight delay in the detection of the upgrade update time in some places. Generally, it will not be too long within half an hour.
