Apple supplier Quanta's August revenue was about 29.668 billion yuan

Quanta, the leader in the foundry of notebook computers, announced the latest revenue data this week. In August 2022, Quanta's revenue was NT$131.86 billion (approximately RMB 29.668 billion), a month-on-month increase of 1.9% and a year-on-year increase of 55.7%, setting a new monthly high.

In the first eight months of this year, Quanta's revenue was NT$833.577 billion, a year-on-year increase of 17.6%. Notebook shipments in August were 5 million units, down 300,000 units from 5.3 million units in July.

Quanta said that its notebook shipments declined in August compared with July, but revenue rose against the trend, mainly because Apple launched a new machine (MacBook), which increased the unit price of product shipments. In the quarter, many orders were blocked due to the city closure, and shipments were delayed until the third quarter. In addition, the demand for servers was still good, which helped the revenue in August.

Quanta pointed out that the shipments of notebooks in July and August were above 5 million units, which was higher than the normal level. This was due to delayed shipments of orders. Now that the personal computer (PC) boom is declining, those that can be shipped as soon as possible will be shipped as soon as possible. In the third quarter, notebook shipments will increase by more than 20% compared with the second quarter, and shipments in the fourth quarter are expected to decline.
