The iPhone 14 Pro has brought computational photography to a new height through the light imaging engine. The new 48-megapixel main camera allows users to take advantage of the new 2x telephoto option in addition to the three fixed lenses, a commonly used focal length that is very useful for portrait mode.
This is the first time that the Pro product line has adopted a new 48-megapixel main camera with a four-in-one pixel sensor. The four-in-one pixel sensor can be adjusted according to the photo taken, and it also has the second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilization function. For most photos, the 4-in-1 pixel sensor combines every 4 pixels into one large pixel (equivalent to 2.44 microns in unit pixel size), resulting in high-quality images in low-light conditions and keeping the photo size at Practical 12 megapixels. The 4-in-1 Pixel sensor also supports a 2x telephoto option, taking full-resolution photos and 4K video with the 12 megapixels in the center of the sensor, without the need for digital zoom.
