Canalys: U.S. PC shipments down 23% in Q2 2022

According to the latest Canalys research report, in the second quarter of 2022, the shipments of desktops, notebooks, and workstations in the United States fell by 23% year-on-year to 19.8 million units.

In the second quarter, U.S. notebook shipments fell 27 percent, officials said. Desktop shipments continued to perform well, up 10% , returning to pre-pandemic levels. Meanwhile, tablet shipments declined relatively modestly, down 4% to 10.9 million units.

Canalys commented that despite the recession and high inflation, the commercial market remained resilient, with shipments up 11% in the second quarter and the overall market avoiding a larger decline.

Last month, data from market research firm Canalys showed that in the second quarter of 2022, mainland China shipped 11.485 million PCs (including desktops, laptops, and workstations), down 16% year-on-year. Desktops (including desktop workstations) and laptops (including mobile workstations) declined 26 percent and 10 percent, respectively.
