Gurman: Apple's iPhone 15 Pro Max will be named iPhone 15 Ultra

After launching the iPhone 14 series, Apple will focus on developing the next-generation iPhone 15 series. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg's Mark Gurman shared details about the next-generation iPhone lineup. Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple will make major changes to the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models to boost sales in mature markets.

Ming-Chi Kuo expressed his belief that Apple will create more differentiation between the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 standard models to increase Pro shipment distribution and new iPhone ASPs. Going a step further, Apple will also start creating differentiation between the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 Pro. This is the best practice to generate more sales/profits in mature markets through precise product segmentation strategies.

And Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman retweeted Ming-Chi Kuo's tweet, suggesting that Apple will also change the Pro Max model naming scheme. iPhone Pro Max models will become Ultra. Apple recently launched its high-end smartwatch, the Apple Watch Ultra, and Apple's M-series chips use a similar naming scheme: Pro, Max, and Ultra. So next year we might see an iPhone 15 Ultra model instead of an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

According to the news, the iPhone 15 series mobile phones will be equipped with a 5x periscope camera and a "Smart Island" hole-digging screen with Face ID. Earlier this year, Ming-Chi Kuo predicted that Apple may eventually switch to a USB Type-C port on the iPhone 15 series instead of a Lightning port.

In addition to the iPhone 15 series upgrade, Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the iPhone 15 series will be produced in India and China at the same time, marking the first time that the latest iPhone series will be produced simultaneously outside of China.

Apple's iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are expected to use TSMC's 3nm chip A17 in the first batch, while the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will still use the A16 chip (the same chip for iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max).
