Gurman reiterates Apple is still testing iPhone hardware subscription service

Apple has recently launched the iPhone 14 series product line. Although pre-orders have already started, the delivery time of the iPhone 14 Pro series has been delayed until October. But Apple was missing one service during the new iPhone launch: a rumored hardware subscription service that would bundle the Apple One with products like the iPhone and iPad.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman said in his latest Power On newsletter that the service isn't here yet, and could launch as early as the end of this year. The new iPhone hardware subscription service, which Bloomberg reported in March, could be Apple's "biggest push to date on automated repeat sales."

This new hardware subscription service can be bundled with an Apple One subscription and AppleCare. Currently, AppleCare and Apple One exist independently of each other. However, when users buy an iPhone through the iPhone Upgrade Program, they get AppleCare. This plan differs from the installment plan in that the monthly charge will not be the price of the device over 12 or 24 months. Instead, it will be an as-yet-undetermined monthly fee, depending on the device the user chooses.

Apple has discussed allowing users of the program to swap their devices for new models as new hardware emerges. It historically releases new versions of its major devices every year, including the iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. Now, Gurman has reiterated his report, saying that Apple is "actively testing this new service":

"Apple is indeed still developing a hardware subscription service that will be integrated with its Apple One bundle. Apple is actively testing this new service and I expect it to launch later this year or next year.

The reason Apple didn't announce a hardware subscription service at the same time as the iPhone 14 was to reduce the complexity of its debut day. After all, it would add a whole new way to buy an iPhone. "

There are rumors that Apple will hold a new iPad and Mac launch event next month, which may be the best time for Apple to announce the hardware subscription service, which will also be a good time before the holiday season.
