In Cheongju, South Korea builds a new M15X factory

According to SK Hynix's official news, in order to lay the foundation for future growth, SK Hynix will build a new semiconductor production plant M15X (eXtension) in Cheongju, Chungbuk, South Korea. SK Hynix plans to build M15X in about 60,000 square meters of land in the Industrial Park of Cheongju Science and Technology City, South Korea in October this year and aims to complete the construction in early 2025. The M15X is a duplex structure similar in size to the combined size of the existing Cheongju M11 and M12 factories. In addition, SK Hynix will determine the start time of the new M17 factory plan nearby, taking into account the business environment such as semiconductor market conditions.

SK Hynix said that SK Hynix, which was incorporated into the SK Group in 2012, has been investing for 10 years, centered on the "future outlook" announced in 2015. The content is that from 2014, a total of 46 trillion won will be invested, and a total of 3 additional factories will be built, including the Icheon M14. The company completed M15 in Cheongju and M16 in Icheon in 2018 and 2021, respectively, realizing its future prospects ahead of schedule.
