Intel 13th Gen Core Raptor Lake i9-13900KS chip up to 6GHz, and 8GHz overclock

According to leaked reports, Intel's 13th-generation Raptor Lake release is imminent, so a lot of information is spreading around. Details about the SKUs are said to have surfaced, initially in the form of basic specs, followed by more in-depth details. The accompanying Z790 chipset details were also leaked a few days ago, along with an alleged official Intel Raptor Lake slideshow.

At its Intel Tech Tour 2022 event today, Intel officially shared more information about its upcoming Raptor Lake processors. The Tech Tour is for its Israel Development Center, where the company talks about everything it has accomplished over the years, from the 8088 in 1979 all the way up to the upcoming launch of the latest 13th Gen Raptor Lake (RPL) Core processors.

The exciting part of today's announcement is the confirmation of the clock frequency on the RPL. While Intel has been bumping up clock rates over the past few generations of CPUs, this time around, Raptor Lake is now confirmed to have an insane 6GHz base clock rate.

Previously leaked information about the Core i9-13900K and 13900KF did not reach this speed level. So Intel is likely hinting at a base speed of 6GHz for the Core i9-13900KS SKU, where the KS samples are basically pre-boxed chips with very high clock speeds out of the box.

Intel also revealed that the overclocked clock frequency of Raptor Lake reached a world record of 8GHz. The image above shows the 13900KF Engineering Sample (ES) running at 8.1GHz. The image above also confirms the 13900KF's 5.8GHz turbo speed, which was leaked in an earlier slideshow.

Intel's 13th-generation Core processors will be released in the early morning of September 28, Beijing time, and will be available on October 20. The first listed models include the i9, i7, and i5 K series models. The 13th-generation Core i9K model will be available for pre-sale in China after its release on September 28. After that, there seems to be a domestic launch event on October 13, when the i7K and i5K models will be available for pre-sale.
