Intel and Samsung to launch'rolling-screen PCs with screens

At the Intel Innovation 2022 conference, Samsung Display CEO JS Choi showed a new prototype computer that can stretch from a 13-inch tablet to a 17-inch display and is equipped with Has flexible display and sliding mechanism.

With no keyboard, the slidable PC looks more like a tablet. Choi said it will be the world's first 17-inch slideable PC display, and the device will meet every need for a large screen and portability. The demo shows that Samsung is betting on this kind of sliding technology for its line of PCs, rather than relying on foldable technology in phones and tablets.

Intel also showed off its new Unison software on this display, which is designed to connect Intel-powered PCs with smartphones.

The swipeable PC is just a concept at the moment, and it's unclear when or if it will become a real product. But this design demonstrates a new form factor for the PC industry to move beyond traditional clamshell laptops.

Separately, Intel announced its 13th-generation "Raptor Lake" processors, including the flagship Core i9-13900K.
