Intel: Next year's PC market is expected to be better than this year

With the arrival of AMD Ryzen 7000 series, NVIDIA RTX 40 series graphics cards, and Intel's 13th generation Core CPU, in addition to NVIDIA's sharp price increase, AMD and Intel are more cautious in CPU pricing, and some of the product also has a little price reduction intention.

Today, Intel held the "Intel Open House 2022" event in Taiwan, China, and showcased the 13th generation Intel Core processors and a variety of Z790 motherboards for the first time in Taiwan.

Juheng.com reported that for this pricing strategy, Sam Gao, vice president of Intel's PC client computing business group and general manager of desktop computers, workstations and game businesses, said that its product competitiveness positioning and cost performance are the key considerations. As for market conditions, PC expectations are not high this year, but next year is expected to be better than this year.

He believes that the change in the overall PC market in the first half of the year is a fact recognized by the industry. It is undeniable that this year's market conditions have a certain degree of impact on customers, inventories, and products, and Intel's second-quarter earnings report also has an impact. After inventory adjustment, Intel will continue to cooperate with partners to provide timely and accurate products needed by the market.

Gao Song pointed out that this year's PC market has indeed declined compared to last year, but after experiencing this year's contraction, it is expected that the overall market will also be adjusted. On the basis of this year's expected downturn, it is expected to see further growth next year, but the extent and speed of growth remain to be seen.

He also added that at this stage, 600 million PC products in the world have been used for more than 4 years, and the demand for replacement is still the driving force for the PC industry.

Gao Song believes that the desktop platform has four major characteristics, including experience improvement, efficiency, service continuation, and flexible computing power improvement. In addition to traditional products, products also include AIO personal workstations, minicomputers, etc. Currently, they are planning to develop new products with partners. product.

He said that the pricing refers to customer feedback, the status of different manufacturers in the industry, and product positioning, and also takes into account market inflation and rising costs, but he believes that the 13th-generation CPU products are very competitive.

The starting price of the 13th generation Core Duo has been announced, and the six K and KF series of non-frequency-locked versions are as follows:

  • i5-13600KF: 2499 yuan
  • i5-13600K: 2699 yuan

  • i7-13700K: 3499 yuan
  • i9-13900KF: 4699 yuan

In terms of performance, Intel claims that the 13th-generation Intel Core adopts the mature  Intel 7 process technology and x86 high-performance hybrid architecture, and its single-threaded performance and multi-threaded performance have increased by up to 15% and 41%, respectively.

The 13th generation Intel Core K-series desktop processors and Intel Z790 chipset will be available starting  October 20 , including boxed processors, motherboards, and desktop systems.
