Nokia C31 phone with 6.7-inch display launched

HMD Global today released new Nokia X30 and G60 phones, but as long-term support 5G phones, these devices are more expensive. In addition, HMD also launched the cheaper Nokia C31 and new tablet T21. The company also introduced new TWS wireless earphones and Bluetooth speakers.

Nokia C31

With a 6.75-inch display, the Nokia C31 phone is not as large as the C30, but measures 169.2mm x 78mm x 8.6mm and weighs 200 grams. Equipped with an HD+ LCD display covered by tempered glass.

Nokia C31 is equipped with a UNISOC 9863A1 chip, using a 28nm process, with eight Cortex-A55 cores (1.6GHz) and a PowerVR GE8322 GPU. The phone runs the full Android 12 system (not the Go version) and promises 2 years of quarterly security patches (no system updates, though). There are three memory configurations: 3GB+32GB, 4GB+64GB and 4GB+128GB. Storage is expandable up to 256GB (dedicated slot) with a microSD card.

The Nokia C31 phone features a 13MP main camera, 2MP macro and 2MP depth cameras, and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. The phone comes with the Google-developed Android Go camera app as well as the GoPro Express app for quick and easy photo and video editing. The front-facing camera supports face unlock even when the user is wearing a mask, or a fingerprint reader on the back can also be used.

The Nokia C31 mobile phone has a built-in 5050mAh battery but only supports basic 10W charging, still uses the micro USB interface, and has an IP52 protection level, which is dust-proof and drip-proof.

The Nokia C31 is a 4G phone (LTE Cat.4) with dual nanoSIM slots (plus an additional microSD slot). The phone also supports a 3.5mm headphone jack and FM radio receiver, Wi-Fi b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.2. The 3GB+32GB base model of the Nokia C31 starts at 240 euros (about 1658.4 yuan) and will be launched globally today. Available in charcoal, teal, and mint.

Nokia T21

The Nokia T21 features a 10.4-inch LCD screen with a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels (15:9). It supports an active stylus (Wacom WGP and Wacom Active ES 2.0), and it can also be used as a secondary display for Windows PCs.

The tablet is equipped with a UNISOC T612 chip (using 12nm process, 2x Cortex-A75 + 6x Cortex-A55, Mali-G52), running Android 12 system, with 4GB memory and 64GB or 128GB storage space, which can be stored using a microSD card Space expands to 512GB. HMD promises 2 OS updates and three years of monthly security patches for the tablet.

The tablet can be used on the go thanks to an optional 4G connection that also supports voice calling and texting. Interestingly, the tablet supports hybrid slots, so it's possible to have two nanoSIMs (or SIM+microSD). The Nokia T21 features an 8MP front camera (8MP rear camera), allowing users to stream video (with Netflix HD certification) or make video calls. The aluminum body used is very strong (50% recycled plastic cover above the antenna for better reception), and the tablet itself is IP52 rated.

The Nokia T21 uses an 8200mAh battery (rated for 800 cycles) that supports up to 18W fast charging and USB-C 2.0 (PD 3.0). There's also a 3.5mm headphone jack (and stereo speakers). Depending on market conditions, a basic 10W charger and case will be included in the retail package. The Nokia T21 tablet starts at 130 euros (about 898.3 yuan), with a Wi-Fi version with 4GB+64GB of memory, and a version that supports 4G LTE.

TWS Headphones and Wireless Speakers

HMD also announced the Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro, a TWS earphone with hybrid active noise cancellation (ANC), Bluetooth 5.2 with multi-point connectivity, and quick pairing.

The Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro TWS earphones have 13mm neodymium drivers and are IPX4 water resistant. Up to 7 hours of playback time alone (9 hours without ANC), up to 28 hours total (36 hours without ANC). The headset can fully charge the 60mAh battery in less than 2 hours, and the 500mAh battery in the charging case takes about 2 hours (via USB-C) to fully charge. The box is made from 100% post-consumer recycled material, as is the packaging.

The Nokia Portable Wireless Speaker 2 uses Bluetooth 5.1 to connect two at a time for stereo playback. It's a sturdy little speaker that's IPX7 rated and very eco-friendly - the housing is made from 100% post-consumer scrap and the mesh is 100% recycled aluminum. The Nokia Clarity Earbuds 2 Pro and Portable Wireless Speaker 2 will be launched in select markets later this month. The wireless headphones are priced at 100 euros (about 691 yuan), and the speaker price is 55 euros (about 380.05 yuan).
