NVIDIA WHQL 517.48 Driver Released

NVIDIA today released the latest Game Ready Windows WHQL driver version 517.48. The new driver supports the upcoming Overwatch 2. The new driver also adds Nvidia Deep Learning Supersampling (DLSS) image upscaling support for Microsoft Flight Simulation.

In addition to these game optimizations and changes, the new driver package brings the latest GeForce Experience (GFE) version 3.26.0.131, which fixes Nvidia-based systems that have been plagued with running the new Windows 11 22H2 feature update.

The Nvidia 517.48 driver also brings some bug fixes as follows:

  • Advanced Optimus: Brightness settings are not applied correctly on some Lenovo laptops in dedicated GPU mode
  • Windows 10 Advanced Optimus: On some laptop configurations, the "NVIDIA GPU only" option does not persist across system restarts
  • Adobe Illustrator: Pixelation using noise reduction with ray tracing
  • Windows 11: Chaos Vantage fails to start when NVLink is enabled
  • Adobe Photoshop: Fix random crashes in DirectML.dll
  • Fusion 360: Resolved performance issues when using variable refresh rate monitors
  • In rare cases, video playback in the browser may result in a bug check code: 0x116
  • Jurassic World: Evolution 2: The game may show shadow flickering
  • Samsung U28R55 / ASUS VG249Q1A monitors do not offer native resolution
  • Windows 11: Some UWP apps may display lag when G-SYNC is set to "Enable G-SYNC for Windowed and Fullscreen Modes" and "Vertical Sync" is changed from the default
  • Resolved incorrect wording of NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> German Shader Cache Size
  • Not detected when connecting to an external display on some Razer laptops via USB-C / Thunderbolt Dock / Docking Station
  • Reallusion Hub: App crashes when launched on PCs with CPUs with more than 32 logical processors
  • DirectX 12: Microsoft Flight Simulation may display texture corruption after extended gameplay

The following are still unresolved issues:
  • Turning HDR on and off in-game can cause game stability issues when using non-native resolutions.
  • Videos playing in Microsoft Edge may appear green when NVIDIA image scaling is enabled when resuming from hibernation or booting with fast boot.
  • DirectX 12: Shadowplay recordings may appear overexposed when Use HDR is enabled from Windows display settings.
  • If DSR/DLDSR is enabled, the display may flash briefly when waking up from sleep.
  • RTX 30 series: Minecraft Java Edition has low performance.
  • Forza Horizon 5: Rainbow artifacts in the game after the driver update.
  • Marvel's Spider-Man: Remastered: Edges of cutscenes may appear blurry when DLSS is enabled on ultra-wide monitors
  • Dell XPS 9560 may crash and restart when using the desktop application
