Financial data showed that AUO’s consolidated revenue in August was NT$16.02 billion (about 3.604 billion yuan), a decrease of 8.1% from July and a decrease of 51% from the same period last year, hitting a new low in nearly 31 months.
AUO stated that revenue in August decreased compared with the same period last year, mainly due to the decline in market prices and the decrease in shipments.
Specifically, AUO's total panel shipment area in August reached 1.332 million square meters, an increase of 2.4% over July. In the first eight months of this year, the consolidated revenue was NT$177.865 billion (about 40.02 billion yuan), a year-on-year decrease of 27.3%.
For comparison, AUO's July revenue was NT$17.43 billion, down 15.8% month-on-month and 47.7% year-on-year. The total panel shipment area in July reached 1.301 million square meters, a decrease of 17.9% from the previous month.
Previously, Peng Shuanglang, chairman of AUO, pointed out on August 31 that some brand customers have recently become more active in purchasing goods, and the overall supply and demand have gradually returned to a more balanced state. "This is good news for the industry."
