Q2 global basis and smart watch shipment ranking

Canalys' latest report shows that in the second quarter of 2022, global shipments of wearable wristband devices increased by 2.0% to 41.7 million units; after a 3.7% decline in the first quarter, growth resumed. Basic and smart watches, both of which belong to the wristband watch category, increased by 46.6% and 9.3% respectively.

According to the report, Apple continues to dominate the global wristwatch market with a 26% market share. Although Samsung is about to launch the Galaxy Watch 5 series in the third quarter of 2022, it still outpaced Huawei with a solid 58% growth rate, with smartwatch shipments reaching 2.8 million units.

Canalys said that in the Android field, Samsung is leading the way in using its smartwatches to enhance the user experience of the high-end ecosystem. The latest releases from Samsung and Garmin, as well as those from Apple and Google expected in the coming months, have intensified the competition among high-end smartwatches.

Specifically, the top five global infrastructure and smartwatch shipments in the second quarter of 2022 are Apple (26.4%), Samsung (8.9%), Huawei (8.3%), Noise (5.8%), Garmin (5.5%) %). Among them, the local Indian manufacturer Noise leads the Indian wearable wristband device market with a market share of 29%.
