Q2 India PC and tablet market shipments reached 4.6 million units

Canalys latest report shows that in the second quarter of 2022, India's PC shipments (desktops, laptops and tablets) growth slowed to 12%, reaching 4.6 million units . This is the first time in the last four quarters that shipments in this market have fallen below 5 million units.

Among them, notebook computers are still the category with the largest shipments, reaching 2.6 million units , with a year-on-year growth of only 2% due to suppressed demand in the consumer market. Desktop PC shipments reached a record 900,000 units in the second quarter of 2022, an increase of up to 70% year-over-year. Shipments of tablet PCs increased 9% year over year to 1.1 million units.

The report shows that the top five shipments of personal computers (including tablets) in India in the second quarter of 2022 are HP (25.0%), Lenovo (21.1%), Dell (11.5%), Acer (11.3%), Samsung ( 5.8%). 

Canalys said that the Indian consumer market fell sharply by 12% in the second quarter , ending the seven consecutive quarters of record gains. In the second quarter, the segment accounted for 48% of the Indian PC market, down from 61% in the second quarter of 2021. In addition, the commercial market has grown significantly by 50% year -on-year , and shipments in this field now account for 52% of the Indian PC market share.
