South Korea's semiconductor exports increased by nearly 8% year-on-year

Data previously released by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy showed that due to the global economic slowdown, reduced demand, and falling prices, South Korea’s semiconductor exports in August fell again after a lapse of 26 months year-on-year. It fell to US$10.78 billion, down 7.8% year-on-year.

According to the latest data released by the Korea Customs Service, the export value of South Korea's semiconductors is expected to recover year-on-year growth in September.

According to data released by the Korea Customs Service, in the first 10 days of September, the export value of semiconductors increased by 7.9% year-on-year, and chips are still one of South Korea's key export products, accounting for nearly 20%.

From Korean media reports, affected by holidays, in the first 10 days of September this year, there were only 6.5 working days in South Korea, 2 days less than the 8.5 days in the same period last year. This also means that if the working day is comparable to the same period last year, the year-on-year increase in semiconductor exports will be more pronounced.

However, data from the Korea Customs Service also shows that although the export value of semiconductor products has increased year-on-year, affected by fewer working days after the holidays, the overall export value of South Korea in the first 10 days of September fell significantly to 16.25 billion. The US dollar was lower than the US$19.48 billion in the same period last year, down 16.6% year on year.
