AMD's new RX 7000 graphics card will be the first to support DP 2.1

While people are disappointed that the RTX 4090 graphics card does not support DP 2.0, it is reported that AMD's new RX 7000 graphics card will be the first to support DP 2.1.

According to the whistleblower Kyle Bennett, the AMD Navi 31 GPU may be the first product to support the DisplayPort 2.1 protocol. The standard has not been confirmed by VESA, and the speed specification is not yet known. Currently, the highest specification implementation of DP 2.0 allows up to 80 Gb/s of bandwidth over 4 lanes.

At present, NVIDIA RTX 40 GPU supports DP 1.4a, supports 8K 60Hz, and can temporarily meet the current 4K 144Hz / 160Hz display output with the support of DSC compression technology. In this regard, Nvidia has stated that the current DisplayPort 1.4 standard can support 8K displays with a refresh rate of 60Hz. Also, consumer gaming monitors won't offer DisplayPort 2.0 support for quite some time .

IThe AMD RX 7000 series graphics cards will be released in early November and are expected to be available in December, and should support the DP 2.0 interface.
