BYD India is considering building a second factory in India

BYD launched its first passenger car ATTO 3 in India on Tuesday. This is an electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), which is renamed domestic Yuan PLUS. BYD, which has previously sold electric buses and electric vehicles to businesses in India, has now officially entered the passenger car market. At present, BYD ATTO 3 has opened reservations in India (50,000 Indian rupees, about 4,345 yuan), and promised that the first 500 vehicles will be delivered from January 2023.

According to the Financial Associated Press, the relevant person in charge of BYD said that BYD India has considered building a second factory in India and will announce relevant news in due course. Previously, BYD had a factory in India for the production of the BYD e6.

" We plan to sell 15,000 BYD ATTO 3s in India next year and plan to build a local manufacturing plant in due course,  " said Ketsu Zhang, executive director of BYD India, adding that BYD has invested more than $200 million in India ( approximately RMB 1.428 billion).

Ketsu Zhang said BYD's manufacturing plant in India covers an area of ​​more than 140,000 square meters and employs more than 3,000 people.

BYD is currently expanding on a large scale globally, entering markets such as Norway, New Zealand, Singapore, Brazil, Costa Rica and Colombia. Earlier this year, BYD also announced that it will start selling passenger cars in Japan from 2023 and plans to build a factory in Thailand to produce 150,000 vehicles a year from 2024.
