Canalys: The Middle East smartphone market is expected to ship nearly 46 million units in 2023

Canalys released a report saying that the Middle East (excluding Turkey) is expected to be one of the regions with the best growth in smartphone shipments in 2023.

According to the report, the market is expected to recover nearly 46 million units in shipments by 2023, an increase of 13% year-on-year, with annual sales reaching $15 billion, bringing the average selling price (ASP) of smartphones in the region to $325.

Canalys analyst Sanyam Chaurasia said that the polarized consumer market in the Middle East also provides different opportunities for new entrants, especially those who have made progress in the high-end market.

On the one hand, the Middle East is attracting a large number of working immigrants, bringing new demand for mass-market equipment. On the other hand, the region has a lot of wealth, with more than half of sales in the Middle East coming from the $500+ price segment. The segment is dominated by Apple and Samsung, which together account for nearly 96% of shipments . Chinese manufacturers such as Honor, OPPO and Xiaomi are eager to change the status quo by investing heavily in the region over the years.
