According to a recent release by China Mobile Chongqing Company, Chongqing's first unmanned airship equipped with a 5G base station was recently successfully tested. This air-ground integrated 5G emergency support system based on the airship aerostat will be used in emergency support such as communication, rescue, and environmental monitoring in the future. According to Chongqing Mobile, the system was jointly developed by them and the Chongqing Near Space Innovation and R&D Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University.

The airship aerostat has a maximum design lift-off height of 300 meters and is filled with inert gas helium, which is pollution-free and safe.

The system is not only suitable for emergency rescue but also provides more application support for temporary communication support, large-scale outdoor monitoring support, forest protection, smart agriculture, emergency traffic, and other scenarios in remote large-scale construction sites.

Recently, the project "5G-based air-ground integrated communication emergency support and monitoring system" jointly submitted by Shanghai Jiaotong University Chongqing Near Space Innovation R&D Center and China Mobile Communication Group Chongqing Co., Ltd. won the industry virtual competition of the 5th "Blooming Cup" 5G Application Collection Competition. The 5G-based air-ground integrated communication emergency support and monitoring system uses the rapid deployment tethered floating ball independently developed by the Chongqing Near Space Innovation and R&D Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University as an air platform, and is equipped with China Mobile's 5G communication equipment and The multi-spectral high-definition camera and air indicator monitoring equipment independently developed by Shanghai Jiaotong University Chongqing Near Space Innovation R&D Center realizes 5G signal coverage of large-scale air-to-ground areas, high-definition image acquisition on the ground, and real-time air quality in the monitoring area. . This system has the advantages of long airtime, low energy consumption, high observation accuracy, strong communication support capability and high environmental adaptability, and can be widely used in emergency communication, large-area crowd behavior observation, forest fire monitoring and other fields.
