JinkoSolar's TOPCon cell conversion efficiency has set a new world record

According to the official account of JinkoSolar, JinkoSolar recently announced that the 182N-type high-efficiency monocrystalline silicon cell technology independently developed by its research institute has made a major breakthrough. The testing laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Metrology has certified that the conversion efficiency of full-area cells has reached 26.1%, which has once again set a new world record for the conversion efficiency of large-area N-type single crystal passivation contact (TOPCon) cells with a size of 182 and above.

According to JinkoSolar, through unremitting technical research, the R&D team took the lead in developing a number of advanced technologies suitable for large-scale such as interface defect repair, high-transparency polysilicon film, and laser SE-based ultra-fine metal electrodes, as well as self-developed products. A number of innovations and material optimization, such as a complete set of HOT high-efficiency cell process technology, have achieved a conversion efficiency of 26.1%, breaking through the 25.7% conversion efficiency created in April this year.

So far, JinkoSolar has broken world records for cell efficiency and module power 20 times. Especially in the field of N-type TOPCon, it has broken the world record of N-type TOPCon batteries 6 times in the past 2 years. According to the official introduction, the Tiger Neo series modules independently developed by JinkoSolar based on N-type TOPCon technology have exceeded the maximum mass production power of 600W+. On the module version of the same size, the N-type Tiger Neo series modules are currently comparable to the P-type modules. On a single-chip module, the power is more than 20 watts higher, and the power is directly increased by at least 3.7%, which will bring customers a power generation gain of at least 3% under the same installed capacity.

According to the Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily, N-type cells have the advantages of high conversion efficiency, high bifacial ratio, low-temperature coefficient, almost no light decay, and good low-light effect compared to traditional P-type cells. Higher is generally considered by the industry to be the next generation of battery technology. TOPCon battery technology is one of the mainstream technology routes of N-type batteries. In terms of theoretical limit conversion efficiency, the limit efficiencies of HJT, TOPCon, and perovskite single-layer batteries are 27.5%, 28.7%, and 31%, respectively.

The agency pointed out that 2022-2023 is a big year for photovoltaic cell production expansion, and TOPCon will become the mainstream route for battery production expansion in 2022-2023.

According to public information, JinkoSolar was established in 2006 and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2010. As one of the few photovoltaic manufacturers in the world with a vertically integrated industrial chain, JinkoSolar’s business covers high-quality silicon ingots, silicon wafer, cell production and high-efficiency mono-polycrystalline photovoltaic module manufacturing.
