Nintendo Switch sales in Japan reached 495,000 units in September

Citing Famitsu data, in September (August 29 to September 25) Nintendo Switch series models sold 495,000 units in Japan, a year-on-year increase of 131%. Monthly sales exceeded 300,000 units for three consecutive months and dominated the Japanese game console market for 55 consecutive months .

However, the sales volume of Sony's PlayStation 5 series models in Japan fell 17% year-on-year to 64,000 units during the period, and it seems that the price increase has affected PS5 sales.

According to reports, Sony has raised the price of PS5 in Japan since September 15. Among them, the PS5 optical drive version is priced at 60,478 yen (about 2,969 yuan), and the digital version is priced at 49,478 yen (about 2,429 yuan).

Unlike Sony, both Nintendo and Microsoft have stated that they have no plans to increase prices. In September, Microsoft’s Xbox Series X/S sold 32,000 units in Japan, an increase of 175% year-on-year.

From the third quarter, sales of the Switch series in Japan increased by 36% year-on-year to 1.176 million units, Xbox Series X / S increased by 167% year-on-year to 102,000 units, and PS5 increased by 18% year-on-year to 252,000 units.
