Under the contract, Nokia will provide equipment from its AirScale portfolio, including base stations, high-capacity 5G Massive MIMO antennas, and Remote Radio Heads (RRHs) supporting different frequency bands, as well as ad hoc networking software.
Reliance Jio plans to deploy a 5G SA standalone network that will complement its 4G network. The network will enable Reliance Jio to deliver advanced 5G services such as large-scale machine-to-machine communication, network slicing, and ultra-low latency.
Nokia has a long-term business in India. The new deal will mean that Nokia now serves the three major mobile operators in India.
