OmniVision Announces the First Square 2K2K Resolution CMOS Image Sensor

OmniVision, a developer of semiconductor solutions such as digital imaging, analog, touch screen and display technologies, recently released a wide-field security camera (dome, dome, The first square 2K2K (2048x2048) resolution CMOS image sensor designed for fisheye and doorbell cameras) and Pass-Through (AR/VR/MR) cameras. The OS04E10 is sampling now and will enter mass production in the second half of 2023.

According to OmniVision, the OS04E10 is the industry's first image sensor with digital watermarking, a built-in anti-counterfeiting feature that ensures the original video source has not been tampered with . The sensor captures fast-moving video in real time and features a 512p always-on low-power mode for excellent pre-roll video recording.

OmniVision says users can combine the OS04E10 with the OA7600 and OA8000 application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) to implement a fully battery-operated camera system with always-on and pre-roll video recording capabilities.

The OS04E10 image sensor uses a 2.0-micron pixel size and a 1/3.11-inch optical format. OmniVision's PureCel Plus technology can reduce the pixel crosstalk and noise of this sensor, enabling better color reproduction in low-light conditions. Onboard Nyxel near-infrared (NIR) technology ensures that images are captured with an infrared source in low or no ambient light conditions, resulting in clear images and helping to extend battery life. The sensor's double-exposure staggered HDR mode increases dynamic range. OS04E10 supports MIPI and LVDS interfaces.
