Samsung introduces the latest memory solutions

Samsung Electronics today held the 2022 Samsung Technology Day event, showcasing a series of cutting-edge semiconductor solutions designed to drive a decade of digital transformation. In terms of memory, Samsung said that Samsung's 1b DRAM is currently under development, with mass production planned for 2023. To overcome the challenges of scaling DRAM beyond the 10nm range, the company has been developing solutions.

Subsequently, Samsung introduced upcoming DRAM solutions such as 32Gb DDR5 DRAM, 8.5Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM, and 36Gbps GDDR7 DRAM, which will bring new capabilities to the data center, HPC, mobile, gaming, and automotive market segments.

The latest generation of graphics cards is still equipped with GDDR6 (X) series video memory, and the faster 36Gbps GDDR7 video memory is expected to be adopted by the mid-term facelift of RTX 40 and RX 7000 series graphics cards.

In addition to traditional DRAM, Samsung also highlighted the importance of custom DRAM solutions such as HBM-PIM, AXDIMM, and CXL, which can drive system-level innovation to better handle the explosive growth of global data.
