Samsung is working on a smart ring to monitor user activity and health

Samsung is the largest smartwatch brand in the Android field, and it has released a number of successful smartwatches in the past few years. A few months ago, the company released the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro, considered to be one of the best smartwatches for Android smartphone owners. Now there are reports that the company is working on a smart ring.

Samsung has started developing a smart ring that users can wear to monitor their activity and health. The company is reportedly working with a number of companies to develop the components and modules needed for the device. Last year Samsung applied to the USPTO (the United States Patent and Trademark Office) for a patent for a smart ring, which has an optical heart rate monitor and ECG (electrocardiogram) sensor and can also be used to control smartphones, tablets computers or TV.

The market research firm points out that smart rings will gain popularity in the next few years because they can be worn by users for extended periods of time and provide better health tracking accuracy. The smart rings also last longer than regular smartwatches because they don't have a power-hungry display.

A smart ring may not be a replacement for a smartwatch due to the lack of a screen, but it should be, with a smaller size. Some of the popular smart rings currently on the market include Oura Ring 3, Circular Ring, Hecere NFC Ring, Prevention Circul+, and Go2sleep Ring.
