Tencent sued OPPO for unfair competition

Recently, Shenzhen Tencent Computer System Co., Ltd., and Tencent Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. added a new court announcement. The defendants are OPPO Guangdong Mobile Communication Co., Ltd., Guangdong Huantai Technology Co., Ltd., and Wuhan Xiangyi Schindler Technology Co., Ltd. The cause of the case is unfair competition. The case will be held in Wuhan Intermediate People's Court on October 19. The specific circumstances of the case are still unclear.

In May of this year, Tencent just sued another domestic mobile phone manufacturer, vivo, in the Jinan Intermediate Court. Tencent App Store accuses vivo of taking advantage of the underlying system of the mobile phone to restrict users from downloading and installing App Store normally and downloading and installing apps through the App Store by inserting pop-up windows, text, buttons, setting risk detection, etc. Store to download or install apps to get more traffic and commercial benefits.

This is not the first time Tencent has sued OPPO. In May 2017, Tencent sued the Wuhan Intellectual Property Tribunal, claiming that once OPPO users downloaded "Tencent Mobile Manager", they would be forced to register OPPO accounts. The company believes that OPPO mobile phone manufacturers use technical means to interfere with the normal operation of the software, which constitutes unfair competition. Since then, Tencent has also sued the court and asked the respondent to compensate the loss of 80 million yuan. In the end, after repeated communication by the judge, Tencent took the initiative to withdraw the lawsuit, the two sides shook hands and made peace , and signed an agreement for in-depth cooperation.
