The first RISC-V notebook computer is on the market


Alibaba recently released a new high-performance RISC-V SoC called TH1520 at the 2022 China RISC-V Summit.

According to Ali, "TH1520 has demonstrated excellent speed and energy efficiency in embedded AI computing devices. It has a 2.5GHz quad-core XuanTie C910 CPU, 4 TOP NPUs, and a wide range of standard I/O interfaces. GlobalPlatform standard Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) security certification scheme. TH1520 is currently used in Alibaba's ecosystem."

Now, the notebook DC-ROMA equipped with Alibaba's Pingtou Ge Yingying 1520 SoC has been put on the Alibaba platform. This is the first notebook with RISC-V architecture.

The machine is based on the software and hardware full-stack platform of Wujian 600 high-performance RISC-V heterogeneous chip, onboard dedicated security chip, and Arm SC300 Cortex-M3 security processor with trusted execution environment security certification.

In addition, it features a 14.1-inch 1080p display, an integrated Imagination GPU, 16GB of LPDDR4 or LPDDR4X memory (4266 MT/s), and 256GB of eMMC storage, priced from $1,499 to $4,999, or $10,586.09-35,303.44.

The machine provides HDMI, USB Type-C, Type-A, and Ethernet interfaces, supports Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5, supports keyboard backlight, touchpad with fingerprint recognition, front 1080p camera, battery life of 10 hours, It is 20 mm thick, and weighs 1.7 kg. It runs Alibaba's self-developed Linux-based operating system, OpenAnolis, with a 5-year warranty.

The official said that the first 100 orders will be delivered in the fourth quarter, and subsequent orders will be delivered next year.
