New full-screen design, four colorful appearances

The new iPad adopts a full-screen design and offers four appearances: blue, pink, yellow, and silver. The gorgeous 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display adopts a full-screen design, providing a larger display area for various apps and games, bringing users a smooth and dripping operating experience, and the overall size is still close to the previous generation model. The new Liquid Retina display brings a gorgeous visual experience, with a resolution of 2360x1640 pixels, nearly 4 million pixels, brightness of up to 500 nits, and support for True Tone display. Touch ID moved to the top button on the iPad, allowing users to unlock the iPad, log in to various apps, or use Apple Pay.

The A14 Bionic chip brings more performance to the iPad

The new iPad is equipped with the powerful A14 Bionic chip for the first time. Compared with the previous generation chip, the performance of the central processing unit can be improved by up to 20%, and the performance of graphics processing can be improved by up to 10%. That makes the new iPad up to five times faster than the best-selling Android tablet. If users want to upgrade their existing device, such as the iPad (7th generation), the overall performance of the new iPad can be improved by up to 3 times. The advanced machine learning function relies on the 16-core neural network engine integrated inside the A14 bionic chip. The number of cores is twice that of the A13 chip, and the computing power can be improved by up to 80%. When tackling everyday tasks like school projects, editing high-definition video, and playing graphics-intensive games, the A14 Bionic chip delivers extreme performance and power efficiency.

Advanced camera system and sound effects

The new iPad brings a landscape front-facing camera, the first of any iPad model. Whether you're on a FaceTime call or recording a video for your social media, you can keep looking at the camera. The horizontal ultra-wide-angle front camera is equipped with a 12-megapixel sensor and a 122-degree ultra-wide-angle field of view. It supports the centering function of characters, and can automatically adjust the camera to move with the user so that the user is always in the center of the screen. The upgraded 12-megapixel rear camera captures high-definition photos and detailed 4K video, and supports slow-motion video at 240fps.

Designed for use with the camera group, including the front-facing camera, the dual-microphone captures audio from the camera the user is using and minimizes distracting background noise. There are also new horizontal stereo speakers, combined with the larger display on the new iPad, to create excellent audio-visual enjoyment for users.

802.11ax Wi-Fi, 5G, and USB-C ports for faster connections

Faster wireless network connections allow users to achieve more with their iPad, anywhere. The new iPad adds support for 802.11ax wireless LAN, which increases the speed of wireless network connections by up to 30% compared to the 802.11ac supported by previous-generation models. The cellular model supports 5G networks, allowing the iPad to achieve network transfer speeds of up to 3.5Gbps4 under ideal conditions, allowing users to seamlessly access files, connect with friends and live stream content anywhere. Coupled with continued support for 4G LTE networks and physical SIM cards, the new iPad offers great flexibility for users who need to get online. The USB-C port supports a wealth of accessories and can be used with higher-power chargers for faster charging.

Accessories further expand the versatility of the iPad, opening up more possibilities for creativity and productivity. Designed for the new iPad, the new Magic Keyboard Dual-Factor features full-size keys with 1mm travel for a responsive typing experience. For the first time, the iPad brings a dedicated keyboard with a large trackpad that supports tap-anywhere and multi-touch gestures for smoother scrolling, swiping, zooming, and cursor movement experience. A full row of 14 function keys has been added for easy access to shortcuts for everyday tasks such as adjusting volume or display brightness. The adjustable and versatile split design includes a detachable keyboard and a cover that magnetically attaches to your iPad. The keyboard magnetically attaches to the smart contacts on the side of the iPad for power and data, and it can be used without charging or pairing. Users can fold the keyboard behind the iPad, or remove it entirely. The bracket angle of the back cover can be adjusted to provide more flexibility in different usage scenarios such as playing games and watching videos.

The new iPad models are designed to minimize environmental impact, including the use of 100% recycled gold in the plating of multiple printed circuit boards, a first for an iPad model. The new iPad is also the first iPad model to feature recycled copper, which uses 100% recycled copper in the motherboard's foil. In addition, recycled aluminum metal, recycled tin, and recycled rare earth elements are also used. All iPad models meet Apple's stringent environmental standards: high energy efficiency, no mercury, brominated flame retardants (BFR), polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and beryllium. The redesigned packaging eliminates the use of plastic wraps, and 97% of the packaging is fiber-based, bringing Apple closer to its goal of completely removing plastic from the packaging by the end of 2025.

Currently, Apple has achieved carbon neutrality in global corporate operations and plans to achieve 100% carbon neutrality in its entire supply chain and all product life cycles by 2030. This means that every Apple device sold, from parts manufacturing, assembly, shipping, user use, and charging, to recycling of devices and materials, will have a net-zero climate impact.
