The world's first 5G terminal air interface performance standard led by the China was officially released

According to the official WeChat account of the "China Academy of Information and Communications Technology", the "NR User Equipment Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Air Interface (OTA) Performance Requirements" led by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (referred to as "China Academy of Information and Communications Technology") "(hereinafter referred to as "NR MIMO OTA") international standard project was approved and closed at the 3GPP RAN#97 plenary meeting in September 2022.

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology stated that on this basis, the international standard TS38.151 was officially released, which marked the official implementation of the 5G terminal air interface performance requirements standard, and the industry has achieved breakthrough results in the field of 5G terminal test standardization.

The 5G terminal air interface performance test is the mainstream test item in the current mobile communication performance test to evaluate the terminal transmission and reception performance through the whole machine. Its indicators directly affect the stable connection of the network, terminal product design, network data capacity, and user usage. experience. Therefore, the air interface-based 5G terminal MIMO standard is of great significance.

The China Academy of Information and Communications Technology said that the release of this standard will fill the gap in the field of 5G terminal complete machine testing and guide the industry to accurately and efficiently verify the multi-antenna reception performance of 5G user equipment in a standardized test environment. The introduction of air interface performance indicators will guide the terminal antenna design and overall machine optimization, effectively improve the real experience of users, and support the high-quality development of the mobile communication industry. In addition, at the same meeting, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology took the lead in establishing the Release 18 enhanced NR MIMO OTA standard project, which will further optimize the 5G MIMO test methods and index requirements.
