Apple iPhone 14 Pro/Pro Max shipment delays improve minor despite supply disruptions

The delivery time of Apple's iPhone 14 Pro orders has eased slightly outside the Chinese market, but supply issues at Foxconn's iPhone factory still exist. Week 12 of JPMorgan's Apple Product Availability Tracker saw changes for all major iPhone 14 series models. Globally, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus lead times increased to three days from two days in week 11, and iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max lead times decreased to an average of 35 days from 41 days a week earlier.

The shortened delivery times for the iPhone 14 Pro models are considered an encouraging trend related to improving supply, according to JPMorgan. In most regions outside of the Chinese market, lead times have been shortened. However, lead times in the Chinese market are still lengthening, suggesting that it will take more time for supply and demand to balance than in past years.

Even so, lead times for these models have generally eased, seeming to indicate that the worst is over-related to supply challenges. Continued disruptions at iPhone factories and delays in returning to normal production levels could limit how quickly supply and demand can reach balance in the coming months, even though there has been some rebound in supply, the analyst said.

Compared with the iPhone 13 series, the delivery time of the iPhone 14 standard model is relatively consistent with the previous version, and the Pro model is now relatively long.

In the US, delivery times for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were relatively stable at 4 days, compared to 3 days a week ago, while iPhone 14 Pro models eased from 40 days to 33 days. While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are available for same-day pickup at some retail stores, the iPhone 14 Pro models are largely out of stock.

In China, the iPhone 14 base model remains at 2 days, in line with the iPhone 13. The time for the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max remains at 43 days, the longest lead time of any region tracked.

In Europe, delivery times for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus in Germany and the UK were 4 days, up from 1 day a week ago and in line with the iPhone 13. Shipping time for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max was 32 days in Germany, down from 39 days a week ago, and 33 days in the UK, down from 40 days.

For wearable device tracking, supply and demand seem to be in balance. For the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra, JPMorgan said delivery times were 6, 7, and 4 days, respectively, stable from a week ago.

Delivery times for Apple's AirPods Pro 2 wireless earbuds have increased slightly, from 2 days to 3 days.
