LG unveils industry's first high-resolution stretchable display

LG Display today released the world's first 12-inch high-resolution stretchable display. Officials say the display can be stretched, folded and twisted without deformation or damage.

The newly launched stretchable display is the first in the industry to achieve 20% stretchability, 100ppi resolution and full-color RGB . Furthermore, its high flexibility, durability and reliability maximize its commercialization potential.

Officially, the 12-inch display uses a highly elastic film-type substrate made of special silicon used in contact lenses, which is as flexible as a rubber band and can be stretched to 14 inches . In addition, this stretchable display uses a micro-LED light source with a pixel pitch of less than 40μm, ensuring a high level of durability and high resolution.

Applications: Officials say it can be easily attached to curved surfaces such as skin, clothing, furniture, cars, and airplanes , expanding the display’s potential in various industries including fashion, wearables, mobile devices, and games.
