Linux 6.1 has preliminary support for Microsoft Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5

In this week's platform-drivers-x86 submission merge, Linux 6.1 added support for Microsoft Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 devices.


The IDs for both devices are now merged into Linux 6.1, with preliminary support for enabling battery and charger status, ACPI platform profile control, and HID devices. HID device support includes Surface Pro 9's touchpad, keyboard, sensors, and other devices.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9 and Surface Laptop 5 were released in October this year, upgraded to Intel's 12th generation Core processor, and merged the Surface Pro X product line. The rest of the changes are not great, and they run Windows by default. 11 22H2, but it seems that it will be able to run Linux well soon.
