MediaTek and several manufacturers complete the verification of URLLC and 5G LAN technology

According to the release of the 5G Promotion Group, recently, under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, MediaTek, together with Ericsson, ZTE, Nokia Bell, CITIC Mobile, and many other industry partners, Successfully completed the URLLC (Ultra-reliable Low-Latency Communication) and 5G LAN technology trials.

The test terminal for this technical verification uses the MediaTek M80 test platform, and the URLLC test includes two systems in the 5G millimeter-wave frequency band and the mid-low frequency. Among them, the M80 test terminal cooperates with the 5G equipment that uses the millimeter-wave frequency band to carry the URLLC function, and successfully verified the performance of the end-to-end delay within 4ms, and the reliability reaches 99.999%; The cooperation of 5G devices with URLLC functions verified that the performance target of end-to-end latency within 10ms of 99.99% reliability can be achieved under different signal-to-noise ratio environments. The time synchronization performance of 5G R16 high-precision timing has been verified. The test results with several 5G equipment manufacturers show that the M80 test platform supporting R16 SIB9 and high-precision time output interface can realize the external timing error of the 5G system in hundreds of nanometers. Within seconds, it can meet the high-precision timing requirements of less than 1 microsecond in vertical industries.

This 5G LAN technical verification uses the M80 test terminal that supports Ethernet PDU sessions and completes the 5G LAN function test and service test based on Ethernet PDU together with a number of network devices that support 5G LAN functions. Realize business requirements such as point-to-point communication, multicast, and broadcast communication. Compared with terminals that support IP PDUs, terminals that support Ethernet PDUs can be more easily integrated with Layer 2 local area networks, industrial Ethernet, etc., to better meet the needs of vertical industry application scenarios for flexible construction of local area networks.
