Nikkei Z fc firmware version 1.30 is released

According to Nikon’s official news, Nikon released the new firmware version 1.30 of the retro micro-single Z fc today, the updated content is as follows:

  • Save focus position and Recall focus position have been added to the functions that can be assigned with Custom Setting f2 Custom control Shooting in Custom Settings Menu. As of November 29, 2022, the following lenses support these options:
  1. NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S
  2. NIKKOR Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S
  3. NIKKOR Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S
  4. NIKKOR Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S
  5. NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S

Improved the operation of AF during memory recall, ensuring that the focus position in any focus mode will not change even if the shutter-release button is pressed halfway while focus recall is in progress.

During remote shooting with the ML-L7, if Release is selected for Custom Setting a1 AF-C Priority Select in the Custom Settings Menu, the camera will now select [AF -C] to focus on every shot.

An issue that sometimes caused the selected setting for Custom Setting f2 Custom Control Shooting in the Custom Settings Menu to not work as expected in Custom Settings mode has been resolved.

The appearance of the Nikon Z fc pays tribute to the traditional design, inspired by the classic Nikon FM2 SLR film camera released in 1982, and the specifications are the same as the  Z 50.

The camera bears the Nikon logo of the 1970-80s, has a similar body size and mechanical dials (sensitivity, shutter, exposure, etc.) to the FM2. In addition, the Z fc also has a circular eyepiece, 3 dials, and the top panel of the body for a nostalgic feel.
