Nokia Bell completed the field test of 5G millimeter wave independent networking

According to the release of the 5G promotion group, under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) promotion group, Nokia Bell successfully completed the field performance test of the 5G millimeter wave independent network.

Nokia Bell still uses AirScale commercial-grade millimeter-wave base station products, as well as test terminals equipped with Qualcomm Technologies' Snapdragon X65 5G modem and RF system. Following the verification of key technologies in the laboratory, in field tests, the maximum downlink rate of a single user exceeded 7.1 Gbps, the maximum uplink rate is 2.1Gbps, and the key network functions and performance tests such as good/midpoint/handicap user rate, delay and beam switching in different scenarios of line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight have been completed, and the test results have reached expectations, laying the foundation for the future millimeter-wave FR2only commercial networking.

Compared with NSA, NR-DC, and other networking modes, FR2-only networking can be independent of other frequencies, which is more flexible and convenient. Taking into account the characteristics of millimeter wave technology such as large bandwidth and low latency, it can bring more application scenarios to operators and industry users.

With the continuous development of 5G millimeter wave technology and the acceleration of global commercialization, Nokia Bell will continue to prepare for the commercialization and promotion of millimeter waves in China under the guidance of the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group.
