Over 85% of North American households will have at least one connected TV by the end of 2022

Strategy Analytics released a report that by the end of 2022, more than 85% of North American households will have at least one connected TV, up from 73% in 2019. Among them, connected TVs include smart TVs, streaming media players, and game consoles.

Roku leads the way in North America, with more than 65 million households owning a Roku device. Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Tizen both have a strong presence, and five other platforms have a presence in at least 20 million North American households.


According to a TrendForce report, global TV shipments in the third quarter of 2022 reached 51.39 million units, an increase of 12.4% month-on-month and a year-on-year decrease of 2.1%, the lowest shipments in the same quarter since 2014. Entering the fourth quarter, the brand launched a large-scale promotion in order to sprint this year's shipments. It is expected to boost the fourth-quarter TV shipments, which increased by 10.8% month-on-month to 56.96 million units but still fell 3.5% compared with the same period last year, the same period of the previous year. Shipments hit a new low.

TrendForce estimates that global TV shipments in 2022 will be only 202 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 3.8% , the lowest year of shipments in the past decade; Shipment volume will decrease by 0.7% year -on-year to 201 million units.
